I’ve never been a writer. I never thought I’d have a blog. Yet, at times, I find, that I have quite a bit to say. It all started a while back, when I stumbled across a box set of the ASOIAF ebooks on sale. The sale price was great and I had heard good things, so I purchased it. It sat dormant on my kindle for months while I continued to read all manner of novels that had caught my attention. You see, I never really liked the fantasy genre very much. I couldn’t finish The Hobbit, and hated the only LotR movie that I had ever seen. I saw my husband watching Game of Thrones on TV and couldn’t be bothered. Finally, one evening, I broke down and said why not? I bought the books, didn’t I? What’s the worst that could happen? Another unfinished book? The rest was history. I quickly finished the entire series, and was so hooked I read it again. Then I binge watched the show. Then I watched the show and read the books together, to see the differences. The problem then became that I had no close friends to share my thoughts with on this brilliant series. I started slowly, reading other blogs to explore differing theories. Then, I began to lurk on the Westeros forums. It took a while, but I finally got the nerve to actually join in, and begin some small posts myself. I enjoyed the debate on the Heresy thread on Westeros so much, that when a few folks splintered off to form their own forum, The Last Hearth, I followed them over. They are a small but welcoming group of some very smart folks, with some very great ideas. Thanks to them, I was able to come out of my shell a bit. I realized that I had ideas too, and at times even a desire to share them. So, here I am, starting my own blog. I don’t know if it will stick, but for now I am going to try. I think I might just have something to say, and this seems a good place to say it.
